Alzheimer's Association Offers Telephone Education Program for Caregivers
The Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter is offering a DIALZ telephone education program, "Caregiver Stress & Nursing Home Placement", on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 7 p.m. If you find yourself without the time to take care of your own needs, you may be putting yourself and your health at risk. This program will look at situations that place caregivers at risk for high stress and will offer suggestions on what they can do to manage it, including when to consider nursing home placement.
DIALZ is a telephone education program designed for those caring for people suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other related disorders that cause memory loss. DIALZ is a unique and confidential program that brings a speaker right into the home of a caregiver over the telephone anywhere throughout the chapter. Participants call a toll-free telephone number that provides them access to the in-home program.
This program is for Alzheimer's disease or dementia caregivers who have difficulty getting services through traditional methods, though all caregivers are welcome to participate. Reservations for this program are required. Upon registering, participants will receive the special toll-free number that will allow them to participate.
This program is funded in part by a generous grant from Alliant Energy and private contributions made to the Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter.
If you have questions or would like to register for the program, call the Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter at (319) 294-9699 or call our toll-free 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900.
