Update: Worker identified in Cedar Rapids fall

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - The Cedar Rapids Police Department has released the name of the maintenance worker who fell  from the Iowa building in downtown Cedar Rapids and later died.

49-year-old Gary Ehrenberger of Ely fell seven stories to his death.

Police were called at 9:59 a.m. Friday morning and told that there was a man injured near 4th Avenue and 3rd Street Southeast in Cedar Rapids.

Investigators found a bystander performing CPR on Ehrenberger on the sidewalk. He was later transported to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Ehrenberger had been conducting maintenance work alone on the roof of the Iowa Building when he most likely lost his balance and fell.

Fellow employees and others from the Iowa Building had  talked with the man a short time earlier and stated there was no indication of any problems.
