A mixture of freezing rain and snow fell in eastern Iowa
WATERLOO (KWWL) - Snow and ice fell as part of a massive winter storm.
Snow began falling in the Waterloo area just after 9:00 pm Thursday night. It is coming down very heavy at times, making travel very difficult. Visibilities are less than a quarter mile at times and roads are completely covered.
Meanwhile, Iowa City has reports of sleet. Freezing rain began falling in Iowa City around 7:00 pm. Thursday. It left a thin layer of ice everywhere.
Interstate 80 has divided the rain and the snow. Snow has been falling north of I-80. It's expected to switch over to all snow before the storm ends Friday morning.
