WATERLOO (KWWL) - Snow and ice fell as part of a massive winter storm.

Snow began falling in the Waterloo area just after 9:00 pm Thursday night.  It is coming down very heavy at times, making travel very difficult.  Visibilities are less than a quarter mile at times and roads are completely covered.

Meanwhile, Iowa City has reports of sleet.  Freezing rain began falling in Iowa City around 7:00 pm. Thursday. It left a thin layer of ice everywhere.

Interstate 80 has divided the rain and the snow. Snow has been falling north of I-80.  It's expected to switch over to all snow before the storm ends Friday morning.

As of early Friday morning, viewers called in the following snow totals:

Cedar Falls - 13 inches
Evansdale - 8 inches
Sumner - 11 inches
Waterloo - 9 inches
