Filling empty bowls

Dubuque (KWWL) - Hundreds of empty bowls, filled for a good cause at Prescott Elementary in Dubuque.

Students volunteered their time to make handmade clay bowls, and they invited the public to a soup lunchen to raise money for their local food bank and Saint Luke's Church in downtown Dubuque.

The cost was $5, everyone got a full meal, including soup, dessert and yes, their very own homemade bowl.

"This is an important project because a lot of our students are strugglling in terms of giving back, they don't have a lot, so giving to each other is important," 3rd grade teacher, Amber Blum, said.

Entertainment was provided by music students at Prescott. Pictures and a movie featuring the student musicians are on the "31 Days of December" blog on our Holidays page.
