Students prepare for finals and ice

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Finals week is wrapping up at the University of Iowa.  As if the stress of finals isn't enough, many aren't sure when they're going to be able to get home.

Some students and university staff are taking a wait and see approach with the weather.
For now, most of Thursday night and Friday morning's finals are on.

Students are urged to check the university's website to see if Friday's finals do indeed get wiped out.

With that in mind, some students we talked to say they're resigned to hanging around until Saturday or Sunday.  While others, like junion Skylar Limkemann, are determined to get home as soon as possible.

"I just want to get out of here and go home," said Limkemann.  "I'm really to the point where I don't even care about this final. I just want to get out of here."

Skylar is trying to get home to Burlington. He said he's going to take one last look at the weather and if things look bad, he'll wait til Friday. But he said one way or another, he's going home.

Also graduation is scheduled for Saturday. U of I officials are confident that will go on as scheduled, but this weather will undoubtedly affect friends and family trying to get into town for the ceremony.
