Independence rejects new high school again

INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) -- For the fifth time, voters rejected a new high school for Independence.

Amid record turnout, voters rejected a nearly $11 million dollar bond to build a new high school. The entire project would cost more than $19-million, with sales tax revenue paying the difference.

The current high school dates back to the 1950's and school officials say it's too small. But critics argue the plan is simply too expensive.
