Helping put presents under the tree this holiday

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- With this year's natural disasters, the Salvation Army is seeing more families than ever in Black Hawk County struggling to put presents under the tree.

The Salvation Army is helping out thanks to Santa's Toy Shop.  Mrs. Clause made her appearance Saturday to help support the Salvation Army and Holiday of Hope at Crossroads Mall.  The goal is to raise 5,000 donations for about 2,000 kids.

"It was really hard to try and determine which family would get adopted and which family wouldn't so I said that's it we're gonna adopt every family that comes throught the Salvation Army toy shop," said Mix 96.1 program director Teri Lynn.

The Salvation Army hopes to provide two gifts for every child.   If you want to give, you can stop by Holiday of Hope at the Crossroads Center this weekend.  Toys and financial donations for 20 dollars and up are taken.  Any remaining donations will be given to St. Vincent Depaul.
