Shonn Greene Wins Doak Walker Award

Posted:

Iowa running back Shonn Greene has won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best running back.

Greene finished ahead of Knowshon Moreno of Georgia and Javon Ringer of Michigan State. He was named winner Thursday night.

After going just 12-13 in 2006-07, the Hawkeyes enjoyed their best regular season since 2004 this year, largely on the back of Greene, who has also been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

Greene set a school record with 1,729 yards rushing and was the only Football Bowl Subdivision back to rush for at least 100 yards in every game this season.

Iowa faces South Carolina in the nationally televised Outback Bowl in Tampa, Fla. on New Year's Day.
