Black Hawks' Hayes Commits to Minnesota State

Waterloo, Iowa-First-year Black Hawk forward Eriah Hayes has committed to playing college hockey for Minnesota State in Mankato.  The Mavericks are members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

"Eriah has a lot of natural talent, so several schools were intrigued by him.  He'll be a great fit with the Mavericks, and it will be great for him since Mankato is close to home," said Waterloo Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley.

The LaCrescent, Minnesota native is third in scoring for the Hawks so far this season.  In 20 games, Hayes has eight goals and nine assists.  Those 17 points tie him for 27th in the USHL.  His season was highlighted by a hat trick against the Des Moines Buccanceers on October 24th.

Minnesota State is home to Kurt Davis and Jerad Stewart who each played briefly for the Black Hawks in previous seasons.  Joel Hanson, who scored the Clark Cup-winning goal in 2004, completed his Mavericks career last spring.
