Man found guilty for sending threatening texts

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Todd Younk was found guilty of sending threatening text messages to his former girlfriend.

The messages led to a lockdown at the University of Northern Iowa.

The messages were sent by Todd Younk to his former girlfriend in March while she was at UNI.

Cedar Rapids police say the messages talked about purchasing a gun, using drugs and driving to Cedar Falls.

Younk was found guilty of third-degree harassment, a misdemeanor, in a written ruling signed Monday.

Younk waived his right to a jury and allowed the magistrate to decide his fate during a bench trial.

Sentencing has been scheduled for Dec. 23.
