Dubuque mulls Multicultural Center plans

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- Despite bad weather, dozens met Tuesday night in Dubuque to discuss a plans for a new multicultural center.

The current center on White Street is too small to meet the needs of visitors. The meeting at Prescott Elementary prioritized programs, goals and other amenities for the new building, which will be a block away from the current location. Organizers say this new center will bring a unique service to Subuque.

"Communities thrive when families thrive and can be productive and engaged when they feel valued and their lives are stable," said Beverly Berna, the interim Multicultural Director. "So we're hoping to take some of those barriers."

The new center will include a computer and language lab, a kitchen, offices and classrooms.
