Cyclones' Henson National Player of the Week

Iowa State volleyball player Victoria Henson has been named Collegiate Volleyball Update's National Player of the Week following her performance in leading the Cyclones to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament last week.

Henson, a 5-11 sophomore outside hitter, dominated the Minnesota Sub-Regional last weekend, posting an NCAA Tournament-high 50 kills during the tournament's first two rounds. Her 6.25 kills came while hitting .318 from the floor.

The Leavenworth, Kan. native also posted double-digit digs in both matches, finishing with 10 digs in matches against UNI and Minnesota. Her three career double-doubles have come in the Cyclones last three matches.

Henson had 25 kills against Northern Iowa to break the Cyclones' tournament record for kills. She followed that performance up with 25 kills as ISU upset sixth-seeded Minnesota to advance to its second-straight NCAA Regional Semifinal appearance.

Henson was an All-Big 12 first team selection this season and currently leads the conference with 4.23 kills per set. Her 508 kills on the season is the fourth-most in school history.

Henson is the first Cyclone to earn National Player of the Week accolades.

The Cyclones return to action against 11th-seed Oregon Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Austin, Texas.
