CEDAR FALLS (KWWL)-- The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team (5-3) hits the road for two straight games, starting Tuesday night when it heads down Interstate 380 to face the Iowa Hawkeyes (7-2). UNI is coming off a 69-49 win over North Dakota on Saturday.
Iowa is 7-2 this year, and a perfect 5-0 at home, most recently having defeated Bryant University Dec. 5, 61-36. Anthony Tucker is the team's leading scorer at 13.1 points per game, while Matt Gatens averages 10.8 ppg. Iowa is averaging 9.6 made three-pointers per game, while shooting 42 percent as a team from behind the arc.
Iowa holds a 31-7 lead in the all-time series, is 20-1 in games played in Iowa City an 9-1 in games played at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. UNI posted a 57-55 in the 2006-07 season the last time the two teams met at Carver-Hawkeye, with Iowa winning 62-55 last season at the McLeod Center. UNI has won four of the last seven meetings between the two schools.
