Grundy Center man shot in chest while deer hunting

GRUNDY CENTER (KWWL) -- A Grundy Center man was not seriously injured after he was hit in the chest by a shotgun slug Sunday morning.

34-year-old Bradley Lynch was hunting on private ground approximately five miles west of Grundy Center.

Lynch and others in his hunting party told the Department Of Natural Resources that they were pursuing a deer in standing corn when one hunter fired at the deer, striking Lynch.

An officer with the DNR said the slug struck a button on Lynch's coat.

The DNR said the slug likely passed through the deer before hitting Lynch.

Lynch was taken to Grundy County Memorial Hospital by private vehicle.

He was later transported by ambulance to Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo where he was treated.
