CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- A Tama woman has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison for stealing from the Social Security Administration.

Renee Frimml was sentenced on Nov. 25. The 45-year-old had entered a guilty plea in July to one count of theft of government property.

Frimml admitted she received more than $20,000 in benefits from the Social Security Administration by falsely claiming to care for a minor receiving benefits.

The child in question was actually in a foster care program.

Frimml was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. She faces 21 months in prison and more than $21,000 in restitution.
