Hawkeye senior services host holiday open house

WATERLOO (KWWL)-- The Senior Tech program and Senior companion Program (SCP) of Hawkeye Community College will host a Holiday Open House to invite the public to learn about Senior Tech computer classes and to learn about volunteer opportunities availible through the Senior Companion Program.

The Holiday Open House will take place on Dec. 12, at the Independence Center from 1:00- 3:00 p.m. The Independence Center is located at 2349 Jamestown Avenue (between Highway 20 and Wal-Mart). The event will also feature refreshments, bingo, and door prizes.

The Senior Tech program offers computer classes designed for individuals over the age of 50 who are interested in learning computer skills.

Senior Companions are volunteers who support their peers by assisting other seniors with daily tasks and providing companionship at their homes.  To become a senior companion, volunteers must be age 60 or over, meet income eligibility requirements, and be willing to work 15 to 20 hours a week.
