General Motors president says automakers have effective plan

Posted:

WASHINGTON (KWWL) -- General Motors  President Fritz Henderson was interviewed on the Wednesday morning talk shows, as auto executives prepare for congressional hearings tomorrow and Friday.

They're seeking up to $34 billion dollars in government help.

Henderson tells NBC's "Today" show that GM is ready to take the necessary steps to resize, and declared that "to win, you've got to win with product and technology."

He added, "we do not want to give consumers a reason not to buy our cars and trucks."

Congressional leaders are reviewing three separate survival plans from GM, Chrysler and Ford. They're weighing whether to call lawmakers back to Washington for a special session next week to vote on an auto bailout.
