Wartburg Prepares For Wisconsin-Whitewater

Snow covers the sidelines and the stands at Walston-Hoover stadium-- but the field is set to go for Wartburg football--

Justin Vetter: "I give a lot of credit to the athletic guys that had to go out there with the shovels and the snowblower to clean it off."

but the fun won't happen here-- this field was cleared solely for practice--

the unranked Knights started the playoffs on the road-- and as long as they remain alive-- they'll continue to play on the road--

Vetter: It's kind of a bummer. I'll never have a home game again, but being in the playoffs is awesome.

Ryan Gerardy: It would be nice to play at home, but not really. It's fun going into someone elses house and beating them.

but the home they go into is that of the defending national champions at Wisconsin-Whitewater-- and while the Knight's know it's a tremendous challenge-- They also see it as a tremendous opportunity--

Gerardy: "It's going to take a great effort from everyone all around. We couldn't be sitting here with a better opportunity in front of us, so I'm looking forward to it and I know the rest of our guys are."

and that opportunity is what makes this practice in the cold and snow all worth it

Rick Willis: "Playing football in December has it challenges, but it also should be a lot of fun."
