Cedar Falls (KWWL) - In honor of World Aids Day, one local gallery is giving up art.

Art galleries around the country closed their doors to morn the AIDS crisis.

The University of Northern Iowa closed their art galleries doors and turned their display lights off.

"In commemoration of artists, performers, authors and creative people who have lost their lives to the terrible disease. We want to call attention to the on going pandemic in the world and in the community by having our doors closed," Darrell Taylor said.

The art gallery at UNI will open again Tuesday morning.
