Special Dunkerton school election to be held Dec. 16

DUNKERTON (KWWL)-- Absentee ballots are now available for the Special Dunkerton School Election to be held Dec. 16, 2008. The public measure is about changes in the Dunkerton's Revenue Purpose Statement for SILO (school infrastructure local option) tax revenues which have been replaced by one-cent state sales, services and use taxe revenues, which can be deposited in the State Secure and Advanced Vision for Education Fund.

Registered voters of the Dunkerton School District in Black Hawk and Bremer counties may obtain an absentee ballot from the Black Hawk County Election Office if they will be unable to vote at the polls on December 16, 2008. 

To receive an absentee ballot by mail, voters are required to submit an Absentee Ballot Request.  Forms are available at the Election Department and may also be downloaded from the following websites: www.sos.state.ia.us and www.co.black-hawk.ia.us.  Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters through Friday, December 12th. Voting in person at the courthouse will end at 11:00 o'clock am on Tuesday, December 16th.

It is possible to fax your official request for an absentee ballot.  The criteria is the same, however, the voter must submit the original request document to the Election Office, postmarked no later than Friday, December 12th and it must be received by Friday, December 19th in order for the ballot to be counted.  The Black Hawk County Election Office fax number is (319) 833-3119.

Return postage is now provided for all voters.  Absentee ballots returned by mail must be properly postmarked by December 15th, the day before the election and received by noon on Monday, December 22nd.  Ballots returned in person, must be delivered to the Election Office before 8:00 o'clock p.m. on December 16th.

Use the county's website located at www.co.black-hawk.ia.us.  Users should select "Real Estate Mapping", then "Address" and enter their address.  At the left-hand side of the screen, near the bottom, users will be able to select "Polling Location Information".  Clicking on this, the user will be able to view their regular polling place used for county wide elections for the address entered.
