DYERSVILLE (KWWL) -- The Dubuque County Attorney's Office has authorized the Dubuque County Sheriff's Department to release the name of the man involved in a shooting that killed 24-year-old David Herman in Dyersville on Nov. 29.

The man involved in the shooting has been identified as 48-year-old Christopher S. Leppert of Dubuque.

Leppert continues to cooperate with law enforcement and no charges have been filed.

Dubuque County Sheriff Department Captain Bob Lynn says it all started as verbal disturbance outside Investigators say an argument between a 48-year-old maintenance man and Herman, turned physical, when the maintenance man pulled a gun and fired two shots Herman.

Herman was then transported to Mercy Hospital in Dyersville where he was pronounced dead.

A press release from the Dubuque County Sheriff's Department said the justification to use deadly force is under investigation and has been referred to the county attorney's office for review.
