A study finds no evidence that taking vitamin D and calcium supplements reduces the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
Scientists at UCLA analyzed data from more than 36,000 women.
The women were randomly assigned to take 1,000 milligrams of calcium along with 400 IU of vitamin D or a placebo.
They found the number of cases of invasive breast cancer were similar in both groups.
