Turkey may not be to blame for drowsiness

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- It's the biggest meal of the year: Thanksgiving dinner.

But the traditional holiday meal may leave you a little drowsy.

Although turkey has been blamed for after dinner naps because of L-tryroptohan, studies find our sleepiness is actually caused by other factors.

For example, when you over-eat it, blood is directed away from other organ systems during digestion, including your nervous system which could cause the need to take a snooze.

Also, alcohol is a depressant and can cause anyone to feel sleepy if they drink too much.
