Waterloo-Cedar Falls sees increase in home prices

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Home prices across the country declined 11.2 percent in September compared to a year ago, and early preview data for October indicated an anticipated decline of 10.5 percent according to the First American CoreLogic and its LoanPerformance Home Price Index (HPI).

The recently released HPI indicates that home prices have maintained a steady annualized depreciation rate between 10 and 11 percent for eight months in a row. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls HPI shows that home prices increased by 0.22 percent in September compared to last year.

The LoanPerformance HPI is a repeat-sales index that tracks increases and decreases in sales prices for the same homes over time, which provides more accurate "constant -quality" view of pricing trends that basing analysis on all home sales.
