St. Luke's Auxiliary offers "Hope for the Holidays" to flood affected families

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL)-- The holidays may be a little brighter to families impacted by the June floods thanks to St. Luke's Auxiliary.

Nearly 300 flood victims will receive a free Christmas tree and ornaments from the St. Luke's at an upcoming Salvation Army event on Friday, December 5, from 4-8 p.m. at the former Econo Foods, 1800 51St St. NE.

Auxiliary members decided they could help flood affected families replace some of the holiday decorations they lost in the flood with former Festival of Trees materials, newly purchased trees and holiday decor, along with donated materials.

St. Luke's Auxiliary members assembled over 400 trees in nine weeks, decorating most and preparing decorations for others. Over 30 trees are "Student Trees": decorated by area school classes for children. In addition, there will be 100 wreaths and swags, greenery centerpieces and an assortment of holiday decorations available to flood impacted families.
