700+ served at Waterloo Thanksgiving tradition

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- People in need got a free, hot Thanksgiving meal Monday night in Waterloo.

The UAW Local 838 and Veridian Credit Union teamed up to serve about 700 thanksgiving dinners. It's the 26th year for the meal.

"I really enjoy seeing all the volunteers from the retirees and Veridian come out," said Katie Bjerke who voluneteered with Veridian. "It just warms your heart to see people care and want to be a part of it and that we're actually making a difference."

People could also get free blood pressure checks and haircuts at the UAW.
