Hawks & Panthers headed to the post-season

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Both the University of Iowa and Northern Iowa football teams had successful regular seasons.   Now, it's on to the post-season.

We may not know where Iowa ends up for about a week and possibly two; it all depends on how the BCS shakes up.

The best case scenario would be the Capital One bowl, but they'd have to jump a Michigan State team that finished ahead of them in the Big 10.

Next up is the Outback Bowl.  This is where the hawks would end up if the Ohio State Buckeyes are placed in a BCS bowl.

If the Buckeyes are not selected, Iowa's likely headed to San Antonio, Texas and the Alamo bowl.  There's also a very slim possibility that they could slip to the Champs Sports bowl in Orlando, Florida.

As for UNI, with their number 3 seed they're guaranteed at least 2 home games as long as they keep winning.  Possibly a 3rd if second seeded Appalachian State were to get upset before the national semifinals.

If UNI did meet the Mountaineers in the semis, that would in Boone, North Carolina - a place where wins are pretty hard to come by.
