Attorney Generals ask for damage history to be included in car sales

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller is joining other attorney generals in asking for tighter restrictions on used car sales.

Miller and 42 other attorney generals asked the Federal Trade Commission to change its "Used Car Rule," which requires used car dealers to post stickers on used cars letting buyers know if the car will be sold with a warranty or sold in its current condition without a warranty.

The AG's want the stickers to include information about previous damage like collisions or flood damage. Currently Wisconsin requires prior damage information to be included in the Buyer's Guide.
