Gas prices hit 3-year low

EVANSDALE (KWWL) UPDATE -- Just in time for your Thanksgiving trip, gas prices are the lowest they've been in three years.

On Sunday, we found gas prices as low as $1.59 for the 10% ethanol blend in Evansdale. That's one of the lowest prices in the state.

Nationally, reports the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $1.91. The average price is even lower in Iowa at $1.71 per gallon. It makes a big difference for truckers who are saving about $400 per fill-up compared to four months ago.

"I'm just a driver so it don't bother me but its hard on the compare when the fuel prices were as high as they were," said truck driver Don Droon.

Other drivers tell us they're now driving more because of the low prices.
