Mount Mercy College to host human trafficking awareness campaign

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Mount Mercy College Psychology club and honors Club will sponsor a human trafficking awareness campaign during Club Friday.

The event will be held Friday, Nov, 21 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Betty Cherry heritage Hall on the Mount Mercy campus.

Mount Mercy senior seminar psychology students are hosting the event to raise awareness of the more than 600,000 people trafficked across international borders each year.

The event will also feature an information booth from local organization The Center to Restore Trafficked and Exploited Children (CRTEC).

Psychology students will distribute orange "stop human trafficking" bracelets. There will also be other prizes, and refreshments available.

The awareness campaign is free and open to the public. For more information on Mount Mercy or Club Friday call the Lundy Desk at 363-8213.
