Former Garnavillo farmer charged with USDA fraud

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Daryl Ihde, 54, is charged with converting mortgaged grain.

Ihde lives in Wisconsin, but used to farm in Garnavillo.

An indictment filed in the Cedar Rapids District Court alleges Ihde wrongfully sold over $38,000 in corn out of trust. The corn was mortgaged to the Commodity Credit Corporation as collateral on a United States Department of Agriculture loan.

If convicted, Ihde faces up to 5 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and 3 years of supervised release. An arraignment in federal court is set for Dec. 1.
