Recount for Senate District 10 race to begin

BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) - Sunday, the two members of the recount board for Senate District 10 informed the Election's Office that they were unable to agree upon a third member to the board.  Representatives for the candidates are Erik Ouimette of Hudson named by Walt Rogers and Tom Powers of Waterloo named by Jeff Danielson.

Iowa law calls for immediate notification to the chief judge of the judicial district in which the canvass is occurring, who shall appoint the third member.  This morning, Chief Judge Jon Fister of the First Judicial District of Iowa issued an order naming Larry Boleyn of Waterloo as the third member to the Senate District 10 recount board.

The recount board is scheduled to meet Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Room 410 of the Courthouse.  The tentative schedule of the recount board includes the remainder of this work week and next week.

The recount must be complete and its report filed with the County Auditor not later than November 28, 2008, the eighteenth day following the county board's canvass.
