Gray and Williams dismissed from Panther football team

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- The Johnny Gray and Victor Williams saga came to an end on Monday, at least as far as the UNI football team is concerned.  Coach Mark Farley met with both players over the weekend and dismissed them at that time.

This comes after the two players were arrested at their home on Friday.  Williams was charged with possession of marijuana, while Gray was charged with the more serious charge of possession with the intent to deliver.

The Panthers meanwhile moved on to defeat Indiana State 28-0 on Saturday, and Coach Farley said he was happy with the way his team handled themselves following the distractions.

"They responded and took it the way that anybody would be proud of," Farley said "They did the things that they needed to do, and we've still got a lot of things to do, but they're response it was what you would think as well.  The program is very important to them."

The Panthers wrap up the regular season at Southern Utah on Saturday.
