Iowa City public forum explores marriage for gay couples in Iowa

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- As the Varnum v. Brien case is set to be heard by the Iowa Supreme Court on Dec. 9, one Iowa organization will hold an informational forum about same-sex marriages.

One Iowa will be holding a public forum that highlights the prospects for marriage for gay couples in Iowa and how it would affect these couples. With the recent Connecticut ruling in favor of same-sex marriage and the passage of state initiatives denying gay and lesbian couples the freedom to marry in California, Florida, and Arizona, a national conversation has been sparked about marriage for gay and lesbian couples.

One Iowa, the state's largest LGBT advocacy organization, works to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals living in Iowa through grassroots education and advocacy.
