Youth Mentor Hunt in Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL ) - Some kids learned about hunting for the first time Saturday.  First gathering inside for a lesson about gun safety, a dozen kids between 12 and 18 gathered in Cedar Falls at the Gun Club for the first ever youth mentor hunt sponsored by Pheasants Foreveer.

The all day event began with wooden rifles, then progressed to the real thing.  Organizers are excited about giving kids the chance to learn more about the outdoors.  The hunt was free for the kids.

"Our main mission is to develop habitats so that future generations of people can enjoy the great outdoors and we simply know that young people who get involved early make better conservationists as adults," said Steve Robisky, youth education chair for Black Hawk County Pheasants Forever.
