WATERLOO (KWWL)-- Columbus High School softball player, Carolyn Schlichte, signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to play softball at St. Cloud State University. Schlichte has been a catcher and first baseman for the Sailors since her freshman year.

St. Cloud State University is the largest member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system. Head softball coach, Paula U'Ren has coached for eleven seasons. U'Ren has guided St. Cloud to three conference titles, six NCAA tournament appearances, a North Central Region Championship, and a third place finish at the 2004 NCAA Championships.

"Carolyne has been a key player on our softball team which has been very competitive in a tough WaMaC conference. She's a leader on and off the field," Columbus Activities Director Aundra Meeks said in a news release. "We wish her all the best next year as she plays for St. Cloud."
