Chizik denies rumor of regret

Ames, Iowa -- They're on damage control at Iowa State after a Dallas, Texas, radio host apparently started a rumor claiming Cyclone coach Gene Chizik told an Oklahoma State assistant he regretted taking the job in Ames

Chizik meanwhile has denied the rumor, calling it completely false, and addressed the situation Monday during his weekly press conference--

"As for me, I want to make one thing very, very clear.  You guys have been reporting on me for a year and a half.  Anybody that knows myself, my wife, my family, they know that we are firmly entrenched here in Ames."

Brian Estridge of FM 100.3 in Dallas, who is rumored to have made the comment on air, later released a statement claiming otherwise:

"Friday on our radio show, Galloway and Company, we were having an on-air conversation about (TCU head coach) Gary Patterson possibly heading to Kansas State. We were also talking about Oklahoma State and Texas Tech at the time. I did not have any conversation with Oklahoma State coaches about Gene Chizik. I don't know any Oklahoma State coaches. We were comparing being the defensive coordinator at a place like Texas and being a head coach at Iowa State and the risk and pressure involved in being a head coach. That is how Gene Chizik's name came up. It was not based on any conversation I had with anyone else."
