Danielson, Burt lead after Black Hawk County canvass

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors held its official election canvass on Monday afternoon.

There were no changes from where the votes stood after the last counting of absentee ballots on Monday afternoon.

In Senate District 10, incumbent Jeff Danielson still holds a 17 vote lead over challenger Walt Rogers, 16,091 to 16,074. However, the supervisors called for an administrative recount of two precincts in the district to be held on Wednesday. Votes for Senate District 10 will be recounted in Cedar Falls Ward 3, Precinct 3, and in Waterloo Ward 3, Precinct 5.

In another close race, challenger Kerry Burt ended up with a 219 vote advantage over incumbent Tami Wiencek, with the final tally standing at 6,673 to 6,454.

Candidates can call for full recounts of their races through 5:00 pm on Thursday, Nov. 13.
