MARSHALLTOWN (KWWL)-- Saturday, Cedar Falls lit up the pool racking up enough points to solidify their status as the second best team in the state behind champion West Des Moines Valley.

"Our team did absolutely fantastic," said Tiger junior Bailey Pons, "We got second runner-up, and there's no other kind of feeling to describe, but happiness."

On the individual side, Pons bolstered the Tigers' runner-up effort first with a second place finish the the 100 and 500 yard freestyle races, and she did it with a pretty simple finishing strategy.

"Get to the wall and just to kick it in and leave everything I have in the water."

The Tiger swimmers weren't the only ones putting up big performances.  Decorah's Hannah Maher tore up the pool taking second in the 200 IM and then later again in the 100 yard breastroke.  Jill Broghammer of Cedar Rapids Washington matched the feat finishing runner up in the 100 butterfly.

"I worked all summer long, and I worked all this season," said Broghammer, "I had a little bump in the road with my injury, but I came right back real hard, and it just means a whole lot to me."
