Jump start on holiday shopping at arts festival

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The holidays are around the corner, and some people are getting a head start on shopping for loved ones.

The Waterloo Center for the Arts held the 39th annual "Holiday Art Festival Sunday.  About 2,000 people came to check out holiday-themed items made by artists from around the midwest.  Organizers say it's a good way to find a unique gift while supporting the community.

"the artists in the midwest are really a fine group of artists and its nice to be able to bring to the community, something you can't go out and commercially buy," said Maureen Newbell with the Waterloo Center for the Arts.

More than 48 artists featured items such as pottery, jewelry, paintings and clothing.
