Black Hawk County recounts ballots

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The Black Hawk County Auditor will request a recount in two precincts after problems were reported.

The Senate District Ten race between Jeff Danielson and Walt Rogers has been too close to call.  At last count, Danielson led Rogers by just 6 votes with more absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted.  Precinct officials reported problems with a small number of ballots.

At University Book and Supply in Cedar Falls, nineteen unvoted ballots were returned to teh election office because the voting machine would not accept them. Also, officials at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Waterloo say a ballot jammed in the machine may have been counted more than once before the problem was fixed.

County Auditor Grant Veeder plans to ask the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors on Monday to set a recount for Nov. 12.
