Hawkeye Football Gets Record Donations

The University of Iowa has announced that two Iowans have each pledged $5 million for the renovation and expansion of football facilities.

According to a news release on Wednesday, the gift commitments to the University of Iowa Foundation were made by Bruce Rastetter of Alden and Richard Jacobson of Des Moines.

The release says the money will pay for the renovation and expansion of administrative space and training facilities.

Last month, the Iowa Board of Regents approved further study of the project.

The release says Rastetter, the CEO of Hawkeye Energy Holdings, and Jacobson, chairman of the board emeritus of Jacobson Companies, are both longtime supporters of the university.

Officials say the gift commitments equal the single largest gifts received by the University of Iowa Foundation for intercollegiate sports.
