Blackhawk County absentee votes counted

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The Blackhawk County Special Precinct Board met Wednesday to count 143 absentee ballots that could not be read by electronic tabulators on Election Day.

The newly-counted ballots changed the ballots in two close races in the county.

The totals in the Senate District 10 race are as follows:

Walt Rogers  - 15,970 votes

Jeff Danielson - 15,905 votes

Totals in House District 21 were also adjusted:

Kerry Burt - 6,565 votes

Tami Wiencek - 6,403 votes

All results are unofficial until the canvass by the Board of Supervisors on Monday.

On Thursday, the Special Precinct Board reconvenes to consider the status of 358 provisional ballots. Absentee ballots received after the election but postmarked before the election will asl be included in the final totals.
