Motions to be heard in fatal shooting case

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A judge is scheduled to hear arguments on motions in the case of 3 teenagers accused in the shooting death of a northern Iowa man in August.

The teens - 17-year-old Damion Seats, 18-year-old Andre Wells and 16-year-old Jamie McFarland - are each charged with first-degree murder.

They are charged in the Aug. 24 shooting death of Isidoro Erreguin of Mason City. Their trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 12.

Judge John S. Mackey was scheduled to hear arguments on motions on Tuesday.

Seats is asking the court to move his case from adult to juvenile court, and to suppress all statements, answers or confessions he made.

Other arguments will be heard on a motion to separate the teens' trial and to allow additional time before trial to gather information.
