Final goodbye for Seth Kehoe

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Mourners say a final goodbye to two year old Seth Kehoe.  Family and friends gathered at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City Saturday morning for funeral services.

Prosecutors say Seth's mother, Michelle, drove the boy and his older brother, Sean, to Buchanan County in a murder-suicide attempt.  Seth died during that incident.  His seven year old brother Sean survived.  Their mother is being charged with the crime of murder in Seth's death.

Saturday's service focused on Seth's short life, his love for his favorite book "Elmo's Neighborhood," and the good times.  Seth was buried in the Elmo costume he would have worn on halloween.  Seth's father, brother, and other family members listened and sobbed as the family pastor and a cousin spoke at the funeral mass.

"At the vigil someone stated how happy Seth was, asking that his gift of happiness be given to all of us," said Father Ed Fitzpatrick.

Following the funeral, the procession led to Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City led by a fire truck, which was one of Seth's favorite things.

Seth's mother, Michelle, was not at the funeral because she's still in the hospital.  Prosecutors have charged her with first degree murder.
