A-P high school receives local and national aid

APLINGTON (KWWL)-- The generosity of people does not stop when it comes to helping the tornado ravaged community of Parkersburg.

This afternoon Varisty Gold, a leader in high school athletic fundraising, donated more than $16,000 to the Aplington-Parkersburg athletic department.

The donations collected from 10 area high school matched by Varsity Gold.

The money is specifically designated for use by the football team and other school athletic programs.

"Our kids have learned a lot from the experiences that we've been through and like i told them today during the ceremony i hope the rest of their life when people are in need that they will be people that will step up and help when they can, " said A-P head football coach Ed Thomas.  "We've seen the goodness of people first hand."

Aplington-Parkersburg high school also recieved $25,000 from the Henkel Helps Schools campaign.  A-P recieved the most votes from their national web contest.
