North Fayette Moves On with 34-13 Win over Osage

WEST UNION (KWWL) -- What looked like a possible offensive shootout early in the game turned out to be a fairly one-sided affair as North Fayette cruised to a 34-13 win over Osage in a substate football game Wednesday night.

The Hawks got on the board first, taking the opening kickoff and piecing together an eleven play drive that culminated in Tanner Mork's 15 yard scoring run.  The extra point was blocked and the Hawks took a 6-0 lead.

But Osage came right back, going to the air early and often on their first drive.  The Green Devils would move the ball 87 yards before Jordan Bremer capped off the drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge.  The point after gave Osage a 7-6 lead with three and a half minutes to play in the first quarter.

Then the defenses showed up.  North Fayette's Nick Creery would intercept an Osage pass early in the second quarter to set up Mork's second touchdown run from just a yard out.  A failed two-point conversion attempt left the score 12-7 in favor of the Hawks.

Seven plays later the Hawks would add to their advantage as quarterback Reid Nuss had the play of the night on a 51 yard touchdown run to put North Fayette up 19-7.  The Hawks would go on to win 34-13 to set up a rematch with Sumner-Fredericksburg, the team that handed North Fayette their only district loss.
