Xavier knocks off Kennedy 16-10

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Xavier won the first round, now Kennedy was looking for payback against their rival for the Battle of 42nd St.  The winner would end the others season.

The Saints jumped out to the early 7-0 lead when QB Stevin Travis found Mike Andries for 6.

In the 2nd quarter, Cougar kicker Tyler Sievertsen drilled a 41 yard field goal (7-3.)

Then Kennedy jumped out to a 10-7 halftime lead when QB Derek Thomas found 6'5 Jeff Hefferen in the end-zone.

But in the 3rd Quarter, Kennedy on it's own 6 yard line would pay.  Garrett Harris sacked Thomas in the end-zone for the safety.

Then after the Kennedy punt, Xavier marched down inside the Kennedy 10 yard line. Corey Reed scored six more on a nice run.  Xavier won 16-10 and advances to face Iowa City City High.
