Coralville neighborhood stunned to hear news of child's death

Members of the Kehoe family in Coralville are grieving the death of two year old Seth Kehoe, while his mother, Michelle and brother, Sean recover in the hospital.  KWWL spoke with a member of the family who declined to comment and was understandably very emotional in the wake of this tragedy.

Many people gathered at the Kehoe's Coralville home Monday afternoon. A half-dozen cars were parked outside. Around the neighborhood, people were stunned to hear the news. They described Michelle as a nice woman who would always wave as she'd walk by with her kids and her dogs. As police work to find answers, neighbors are also wondering just exactly what happened.

Police did not issue an amber alert when Michelle's husband, Gene reported them missing Sunday because it did not meet the state criteria. An amber alert can only be issued when police believe the children have been abducted.

Last December the Kehoe family's car crashed into the icy Iowa River.

Four bystanders rescued Michelle and her two boys and no charges were filed.

Iowa City police re-examined the case after today's incident -- but again found no reason to file any charges.
