CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL)- The Cedar Rapids Mayor and City Council request citizen participation in the Cedar Rapids local government. Applications are being accepted for a SW side Cedar Rapids resident to participate on the Grants and Program Citizen Advisory Committee. This is a one year commitment that expires November 30, 2009. Most meetings will take place in January and February of 2009. Applications are DUE on or before Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 5 PM.

The Grants and Programs Committee is an informal advisory group of volunteers which principally reviews proposals submitted to the City for financial assistance from the Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Programs.  In its advisory capacity, it recommends to the City Council which activities should be funded and for how much. This is done to satisfy requirements of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as part of its "Consolidated Planning" effort (i.e., merger of the entitlement programs into a single budgetary / planning process).

Please contact Paula Hinzman-Mitchell with questions regarding this committee, 319-286-5852.
